Supertrend is an ATR-based trailing band that flips green/red when price crosses it — beloved for its simplicity on Indian intraday charts.
Level by level
Beginner
Green line under price = ride longs with the line as your stop; red line above = the same for shorts. One glance, one rule.
Intermediate
Default (10, 3) balances signals vs whipsaws; bigger multipliers = fewer, later, cleaner flips. It's an exit engine more than an entry engine.
Advanced
It IS an ATR chandelier stop in disguise — everything true of volatility stops applies: brutal in chop, brilliant in trends. Gate with ADX or higher-TF bias.
Common mistakes
- Trading every flip in a sideways session
- Tightening the multiplier after one missed move (recency bias)
