Pivot Points — the Floor Trader's Levels

guide
Pivots turn yesterday's high/low/close into today's reference grid: a central pivot plus R1-R3 and S1-S3.
Level by level
Beginner
Price opening above the pivot leans bullish for the session; below, bearish. S1/R1 are the day's first battlegrounds.
Intermediate
Intraday traders fade R1/S1 in ranges and target R2/R3 on trend days. Pivots pair naturally with VWAP for intraday structure.
Advanced
Because the formula is universal, pivots are crowd-synchronised levels — liquidity pools where reactions cluster. Weekly/monthly pivots extend the idea for swing trading.
Common mistakes
- Treating every pivot line as a wall (trend days slice through them)
- Mixing pivot formulas (classic vs Fibonacci vs Camarilla) mid-plan
